Printable Kansas map
Kansas printed on one landscape page: Topeka with the capital star, Wichita and the Kansas City suburbs, and the 105 county borders that tile the state.
What prints
Three of Kansas's four sides are straight survey lines, so the printed outline is a rectangle with one interruption: the Missouri River, which cuts the northeast corner between Kansas City and the Nebraska line. Inside that rectangle the 105 counties print as a near-perfect grid, thirty-some counties wide and about seven deep, which makes Kansas one of the easiest county maps to read on paper. Topeka carries the capital star on the Kansas River in the northeast. The Major cities layer adds Wichita on the Arkansas River in the south-central part of the state, and the Johnson County suburbs of Overland Park and Olathe along with Kansas City, Kansas, at the Missouri line. Time zone boundaries are not drawn, but the four westernmost counties on the Colorado border are on Mountain time.
Page orientation
Kansas is about 410 miles wide and only 210 miles tall. Print it in landscape, without question. In landscape it fills the width of a Letter or A4 sheet and each county square is large enough to write in. In portrait the state shrinks to a band across the middle of the page and the county borders become a dense mesh. If the printer offers a borderless option, it helps here because the state runs close to both side margins.

- The straight borders along 40°N (Nebraska), 37°N (Oklahoma) and 102°W (Colorado), and the Missouri River section of the Missouri border.
No county names print. Suggested exercises: find Sedgwick County by the Wichita dot, count the counties along the Oklahoma border, and locate the four Mountain-time counties in the far west. The answer key is the Kansas county map. A version with only the outline is at the blank Kansas map.
