Printable Idaho map

Idaho on a single sheet: Boise marked as capital, the big cities of the Snake River Plain, and the borders of all 44 counties, from the Canadian line down to Nevada.

The Mountain–Pacific time line runs across the Panhandle; the northern ten counties are on Pacific time. Neighbours: Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana.

What prints

Idaho is one of the tallest states on the map: about 480 miles from the 49th parallel in the north to the Nevada and Utah line at 42°N, but only about 45 miles across at the top of the Panhandle. The printed sheet shows that whole shape, the 44 county borders inside it, and Boise with a capital star near the southwest corner. Turn on Major cities to add Meridian, Nampa and Idaho Falls along the Snake River Plain, and Pocatello in the southeast. The Panhandle counties (Boundary, Bonner, Kootenai, Benewah, Shoshone) print small; they sit on Pacific time, while the rest of the state, from Idaho County southward, keeps Mountain time. The print stylesheet drops the header, toolbar and footer, so what reaches paper is the map, the state name and any layer you have switched on.

Page orientation

Use portrait. No other state in the lower 48 has such a strong north–south axis, and in landscape the Panhandle shrinks to a thin sliver with its five counties squeezed into a strip a few millimetres wide. In portrait, Idaho fills the page height and the wide southern half, where the Snake River curves from Idaho Falls past Twin Falls to Boise, has room for city labels. If your printer trims the margins, check that Boundary County at the very top and Franklin and Bear Lake counties at the bottom edge are both on the page.

What is labeled

County names are left off so the sheet can double as a worksheet. Good targets are Ada County around Boise, Kootenai County around Coeur d'Alene, and Bonneville County around Idaho Falls; the Idaho county map is the answer key. The blank Idaho map removes the capital and cities as well.
