What prints
New Mexico is close to a square with a bite taken out of the bottom-right corner, where Texas wraps around from the east to the south. The printed sheet shows the 37th-parallel line with Colorado across the top, the meridian line with Oklahoma and Texas down the east side, the step in the southeast where the Texas border turns west, the short Mexican border at the bottom including the small westward jog of the boot heel, and the straight Arizona line up the west side to the Four Corners. Thirty-three counties sit inside — large ones, since the state is 121,590 square miles and Catron County alone is nearly the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island together. Santa Fe is marked as capital in the north-central highlands; the Major cities layer adds Albuquerque 60 miles downriver, Las Cruces in the far south, Rio Rancho and Roswell.
Page orientation
Either orientation works because the state is about 370 miles tall and about 340 miles wide, but portrait fits the key table beneath the map on the same page. The counties are big enough that nothing becomes illegible at whole-state scale; the only crowded spot is Bernalillo County, where Albuquerque and Rio Rancho sit close together on the Rio Grande.

The Rio Grande, which enters from Colorado and runs south past Albuquerque and Las Cruces before becoming the Texas–Mexico border at El Paso, is not drawn on the plain print; use the Streets layer or the Rio Grande map. The Continental Divide crosses the western third of the state and is likewise unmarked. The blank New Mexico map is the unlabeled version; the New Mexico county map gives all 33 with their seats.
