What prints
The Ohio sheet shows a compact shape that is nearly as tall as it is wide, with the Lake Erie shoreline along the top and the curving Ohio River along the bottom and east. The 88 counties print as a fairly even grid because most were laid out on survey lines; the exceptions are the river counties along the Ohio, whose southern edges follow the water. Columbus is starred as the capital in Franklin County, almost exactly in the geographic centre of the state. The Major cities layer adds Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo and Akron. Lake Erie itself and the state's other lakes and rivers are not filled on the plain print.
Page orientation
Ohio is about 220 miles from north to south and roughly 220 miles from east to west, so either orientation works. Portrait is the better choice on Letter and A4 paper because the state then fills the width of the page and leaves a margin at the bottom for a title or a key. In landscape the map is the same size but centred with blank space on both sides. If you need room for notes beside the map, landscape gives you that.

A common classroom use of this sheet is to mark the three largest metropolitan areas and the county each city sits in: Cuyahoga (Cleveland), Hamilton (Cincinnati) and Franklin (Columbus). Others are tracing the Ohio River from the Pennsylvania line at East Liverpool to the Indiana line below Cincinnati, or shading the eight counties that touch Lake Erie.
