What prints

Nevada's shape — a rectangle with the bottom-left corner sheared off along a 400-mile diagonal, ending in a point at the Colorado River — prints cleanly because so much of the border is straight. The north is the 42nd parallel shared with Oregon and Idaho, the east is a meridian line with Utah, the southeast follows the Colorado River against Arizona for a short stretch below Lake Mead, and the west is California: due north–south along 120°W to Lake Tahoe, then diagonally southeast. Only 16 counties plus the consolidated municipality of Carson City sit inside, so the internal lines are few and large. Nye County alone is bigger than nine states. Carson City gets the capital star up near Tahoe in the far west; the Major cities layer puts Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas and Reno on the sheet, with Las Vegas and its neighbours clustered together in the southern point.

Page orientation

Portrait. Nevada is about 490 miles from the Oregon line to the southern tip and about 320 miles wide across the north, tapering to nothing in the south. In portrait the diagonal runs corner to corner across the page. The problem area is Clark County in the south: three of the state's four largest cities sit within about 15 miles of each other there, and at whole-state scale their labels overlap. If you need the Las Vegas valley legible, zoom in and print a second sheet.

What is labeled

Lake Tahoe, which straddles the California line where the border changes direction, and Lake Mead on the Colorado are not shown on the plain print. Neither is the Great Basin, which covers almost the whole state; the basin-and-range terrain shows only on the Streets layer. The related Mojave Desert map covers the south around Las Vegas. Print the blank Nevada map for an outline with nothing on it, and use the county map for the names and seats.
