What prints
Indiana's compact, nearly rectangular outline prints with the winding Ohio River along its southern edge, the short Lake Michigan shoreline in the northwest corner, and 92 county borders filling the interior. Indianapolis sits almost exactly at the centre with the capital star. With Major cities switched on the sheet also names Fort Wayne in the northeast, Evansville on the Ohio in the southwest, South Bend near the Michigan line, and Carmel just north of the capital. The counties are small and fairly even in size, so the printed grid looks orderly; the exceptions are the river counties along the Ohio, whose borders follow the water. Time zones are not drawn, but readers should know the sheet covers two: the northwest counties around Gary and the southwest counties around Evansville are on Central time, while Indianapolis and the rest use Eastern.
Page orientation
Indiana is about 270 miles tall and 140 miles wide. Portrait makes the best use of the page, and the state will fill roughly the full height of Letter or A4 with a comfortable margin. Landscape leaves the outline small in the middle of the sheet. If you are printing several state maps for a classroom set, Indiana pairs well with Illinois and Ohio at the same scale, since all three print in portrait and are of similar height.

Names of counties are omitted. Use the sheet to have students find Marion County (the capital), Allen County (Fort Wayne), Vanderburgh County (Evansville) and St. Joseph County (South Bend), then compare with the Indiana county map. The blank Indiana map strips the cities and capital too.
