Printable Connecticut map
A printable Connecticut map with Hartford, Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford and Waterbury marked and the eight historic county lines drawn on a single page.
What prints
Connecticut is small enough that the printed sheet shows it at a generous scale, with the Long Island Sound coastline along the bottom, the Connecticut River cutting the state in two from the Massachusetts line to the Sound at Old Saybrook, and the eight county borders inside. Hartford carries the capital star on the river in the middle of the state. The Major cities layer adds Bridgeport, New Haven and Stamford along the coast and Waterbury inland on the Naugatuck River, so four of the five city dots sit in the southwestern third of the state. The distinctive notch in the southwest corner, where Greenwich reaches toward New York City, and the small panhandle at the northwest corner both print clearly.
Page orientation
The state is about 110 miles east to west and 70 miles north to south, a ratio that suits landscape printing. Landscape lets Connecticut span the width of a Letter or A4 sheet, leaving a strip beneath for the key. In portrait the state occupies a band across the middle with large blank areas above and below, though the counties still remain readable because there are only eight of them.
What is labeled
- The state name and abbreviation CT.
- Hartford, marked as capital on the west bank of the Connecticut River.
- Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford and Waterbury on the Major cities layer.
- The eight county borders: Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London along the coast; Litchfield, Hartford, Tolland and Windham inland.
- The straight northern line with Massachusetts (with its small jog at the Southwick notch), the eastern line with Rhode Island, and the western line with New York.
Connecticut's counties have had no county government since 1960 and the state now uses planning regions for most statistics, but the eight county boundaries are still what most maps show and they are what appears on this sheet. Details are on the county map. For a sheet with only the outline, use the blank Connecticut map.
