Printable Alaska map
Alaska on a single sheet: Juneau, Anchorage, Fairbanks and the 30 boroughs and census areas, printed with the Aleutian chain and the Panhandle both on the page.
What prints
Alaska is the hardest state to fit on paper. It spans about 2,400 miles from the tip of the Aleutian chain to the Canadian border, so the printed sheet shows the mainland at a small scale with the Aleutians trailing off to the lower left and the Southeast Panhandle running down the right edge toward British Columbia. The map on this page loads with the full state visible; press Print and the browser sends the same view to paper. The boundaries of all 30 boroughs and census areas are drawn inside the state outline, though at this scale the small ones around Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula are only a few millimetres across. The capital star sits on Juneau in the Panhandle, far from Anchorage and Fairbanks, which is one of the points the sheet makes best.
Page orientation
Use landscape. Alaska is much wider than it is tall once the Aleutians are included, and portrait printing shrinks the mainland to about half the width of the page. In landscape the Brooks Range in the north, the Yukon River valley through the middle and the Alaska Range around Denali all get enough space to be picked out. If you only need the mainland and the Panhandle, zoom in on the map before printing so the Aleutians drop off the left edge; the state then fits landscape Letter or A4 with far more detail.

- Juneau, marked as capital on the Gastineau Channel in the Southeast Panhandle.
- Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau on the Major cities layer; Anchorage alone holds well over a third of the state's 733,391 people.
- The borders of the 30 boroughs and census areas, including the vast Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area in the interior and the North Slope Borough along the Arctic Ocean.
- The 141°W meridian that forms the straight border with Yukon Territory, and the coastal Panhandle border with British Columbia.
Alaska has no counties; local government is by borough, and the parts of the state with no borough are grouped into census areas for statistical purposes. The borough map lists all 30 with their seats. Note that nearly all of Alaska runs on Alaska Time, with only the far western Aleutians on Hawaii-Aleutian Time.
